BIOGRAPHY :
In 1860, Anthony was a miller living in McSherrystown, Adams County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 7" tall with dark hair and brown eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg February 15, 1865, mustered into federal service there February 25 at as a private with Co. G, 74th (not 174th) Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company August 29, 1865.
He married Mary Joanna Brady June 11, 1871, in Conewago Chapel, Adams County, and fathered Charles Edward (b. 01/27/72), Annie Elizabeth (b. 02/18/75 - married Lewis Elmer Crum), and William (b. @1879). In 1880, he lived in Conewago Township, Adams County, in 1890, in Oxford Township, Adams County, and in 1900, in Berwick Township, Adams County. On November 18, 1910, he entered the soldiers' home in Johnson City, Tennessee, and died while home on furlough.

ANTHONY FOWLER, died at the Union Hotel, McSherrystown, at noon Friday, after an illness of several weeks. He was aged 69 years, 2 months and 4 days.
He was a son of the late John Fowler, and he served in the 174th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, during the Civil War. For the past several years he lived at the Tennessee Soldiers' Home, and was on a furlough at the time of his death.
He was married to Miss Mary Brady, formerly of Mt. Rock, who survives, with a son, William, and a daughter, Mrs. Anna Crum, living at Frederick. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Wm. A. Bair, of Hanover, and three brothers, Lewis Fowler, of Denver, Colorado, and John and Allen Fowler, of Dayton, Ohio.
