Susan Joan (Staudacher) Sweet (1954 - 2017)

Susan Joan (Staudacher) Sweet, 63, passed away on Monday (6-5-17) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. Born on May 17, 1954 in Kalamazoo, MI, she was the daughter of Jack and Joan (Raymond) Staudacher. She was a 1972 graduate of the Saugerties (NY) High School. Susan married Richard D. Sweet in Brattleboro, VT on September 17, 1998.

Susan last worked at Yankee Candle Corp from 2000 to 2016 as a Merchandise Allocator. She had served as secretary for her local VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club, Inc. (South Deerfield). She loved to garden and cook, and wasn't afraid to try new recipes. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was a good friend and listener. She could strike up a conversation with someone no matter where she was. She was a die-hard Jets and NASCAR fan, and looked forward to her trips to Las Vegas with her husband. She especially loved being ""Ma"" to her young grandchildren, and keeping in contact with her childhood friend, Denise Fowler, whom she knew since she was three years old. Susan had a very close friendship with her sister-in-law Diane, who her Mom referred to as her twin.

Survivors include her husband Richard; daughters: Kimberly A. Sweet of Heath and Elizabeth M. Sweet of Montague, step-daughter: Kelly J. Miller of Turners Falls, and two granddaughters: Isabelle and Madison Pettengill of Heath. She also leaves her mother Joan of Buckland, her brother Michael (wife Diane) of Bloomfield Hills, MI, niece Jackie Staudacher of Nashville, TN and nephew Jason Staudacher of Hazel Park, MI and extended family who will miss her dearly especially her best-friend Sara Clark. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but none more than her devoted soulmate Richard.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 8th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Shelburne Falls Fraternal Order of Eagles, State Street, Buckland. Donations may be made in her memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, 104 Bridge Street, Shelburne Falls.
