He was born to Charles Joseph and Mary Catherine (Chappie) George. On Aug. 6, 1949, he married Margine Leugers, who precedes him in death.

Surviving are a brother, Marion (Vernedia), Greenville; and five sisters, Frances Monnin Holscher, Osgood, Rose Mary Kinninger, Sidney, Bertha (Arthur) Bruening, Yorkshire, Virginia Roll, North Star, and Juanita George, New Paris.

Deceased are four brothers, Earl, Kenneth, John L., and Edward Lee; and four sisters, Louella, Eleanor Werling, Leoma McEldowney, and Ruth Petitjean Thiebeau.

He retired as a farmer and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and American Legion Post 174, both of North Star.
