Along with farming, Mike sold Pioneer Seed for 43 years and was recognized as an outstanding and dedicated salesman. He was a member of the St. Anne's Men's Society and the Shoreland Golf Club.
Mike was a well-liked, humble, friendly and considerate man. He was consistent with his one liners and sense of humor and loved playing a good hand of cards. Mike loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, gardening, cracking black walnuts and gathering mushrooms.
Mike researched and found his many ancestors in Mullecrew, County Louth, Ireland. For several years, he and his wife Jean, traveled to Ireland with good friends the Casey's.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jean Delores Seitzer from St. Peter, whom he married on November 28th, 1944 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Peter. They were married for 73 years and had seven children; Daughter, Patricia (special friend David) of White Bear Lake. Son, Daniel (Cindy), of Arlington. Daughter, Marian (J.P.), of Worthington, MA. Son, Mark (Liz) of St. Peter. Daughter, Colleen (Nels), of Marine on St. Croix. Daughter, Kathleen (Jeff), of Willmar. Michael (Jenny) of Pelican Rapids.
Mike will be deeply missed by his seven children, 19 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great, great, grandchild, 29 nieces and nephews and many other cherished relatives and friends.
Visitation at Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, Sunday, October 1, 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 - 10:45. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church Monday, October 2, at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
