Tom’s occupation upon retiring was with Ken Graham Trucking, approximately 16 years as an Owner-Operator. In addition, SSM City Airport Manager and Assistant Manager of Cloverland Oil.
Tom served in the United States Army as a Warrant Officer, Helicopter Pilot in Vietnam. He was a true Patriot. While serving his country, he received the following recognition: A Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Volunteer Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Army Aviator Badge. Tom always remained humble, never wanting to acknowledge his accolades.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Dana, his beautiful daughter, Shelby Ann Louise; and twin sons, Steve and Riley Angeli.
Tom was blessed with a wonderful family; brothers and sisters; Jane (Loch) Syme, Essex Connecticut; James (Lynn) Mackie, Daphne, Alabama; Marlene Mackie, D.V.M., Escanaba, Michigan; Robert (Brenda) Mackie, M.D., Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; Rick Mackie, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; Tom’s only Aunt, Marilynn Etzold, Tacoma, Washington; Nieces and nephews; Lisa (Eric, Fiance) Senay, Andre Senay, Alison (Jay) Johnson, Robin Mackie, Jillian (Brenan) Pultz, Kaitlynn and Kelsey Mackie, Anne (Curt) Van, and Jordan Mackie; Cousins, Ernie and Albert Kujala of Rudyard, Michigan. Tom was predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law, Jodi Mackie.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17th, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hovie Funeral Home, memorial service to follow. Tom requested a celebration of his life at the Cozy Inn, Brimley Michigan, following the service.
