After high school, he worked at Eagles in Milan, IL and was then employed by the city of Fort Dodge, Iowa as a professional painter.
John loved to watch football, western movies, fishing, traveling and the outdoors.
He is survived by three children, Michele Fredin of Des Moines, IA, Bristol Timmons of Ellsworth, ME and John Michael Timmons IL of Trenton, ME, 10 grandchildren, his mother, Eleanor Timmons of Rock Island, IL, siblings, Elaine Roete of LeClaire, IA, Robert Carney, Richard Carney and Susan Keller of Milan, IL, Becky Salmon of Aledo, IL, Michael Carney of Rock Island, IL, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Timmons.
