PERU — The Rev. A. Ellsworth Young, 100, of Peru, Pastor Emeritis of Waltham Presbyterian Church, went to the Lord on Friday, Sept. 22, at IVCH, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Waltham Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joel Stevenor and Pastor Roy Backus officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota is handling the arrangements.

Ellsworth was born March 9, 1917, in Meade County, Kan., to James and Eslie Young. He married the love of his life, Dorine Ellis, on April 17, 1938.

He came to Illinois in 1942 to attend McCormick Seminary, where he was ordained into the Presbyterian Church. He served the Arcola and Indian Point churches before moving to Waltham Presbyterian Church for 27 years. They retired to Hennepin Farms in 1982 and later moved to Liberty Village in 2014.

He was an avid rock collector and made a lot of jewelry from his collection. He was a charter member of the American Cut Glass Association and truly loved his cut glass. He was a long-time member and past president of the Waltham Curling Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Everett Christopher) Finley, of Peru; one son, Paul (Jane) Young, Crawfordville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Donald (Waynea) Finley, Steven (Christine) Young, David (Samantha) Young and Amy (Kimber) Young-Jones; great-granddaughters, Alexa Finley, Sarah Finley and Sierra and Sydney Davis; great-grandsons, Logan (Kelly) Finley, Zachary Young and Austin and Chandler Jones; and great-great-grandson, Jackson Finley.
He was pre
ceded in death by his wife on June 9, 2005; and three brothers and one sister.

Memorials maybe directed to Waltham Presbyterian Church or the donor's choice.
