WIFE OF WILEY B. JONES, JR
(PV2 US ARMY)

Mrs. Pearlie Mae King Jones was born on August 27, 1936 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to her parents, the late Willie E. and Willa Dean King. Pearlie was the second child of two siblings; her surviving brother, Kelly King, served as Master Sergeant (Retired), U.S. Army. A few years after her mother’s death, she relocated from Mississippi, to reside with her Aunt Esther Burt, and Uncles, Dr. Emmitt Burt, and Conway Burt, in Memphis, TN. All of which preceded her in death. The late Dave and Rev. Hattie Washington and son, the late Jerry, also added to their union the adoption of Sisters: Ann, Kathy. *Mrs. Pearlie united in holy matrimony to the late Rev. Wiley B. Jones, Jr. on May 21, 1956. They settled in North Memphis and raised their five children. She professed her faith in God at an early age. She joined Trinity C.M. E. Church. She later joined Clyde Avenue M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor J.E. Swanson, where she served faithfully as a dedicated Sunday School Teacher, choir member, and song leader of “Yes, When I Get Home”. Her favorite selections were “Amazing Grace, and Leave it There.” She was also an Usher. She was also a faithful companion in ministry with her daughter, Pastor Esther Gant at Calvary Longview, and Prospect, UMC, Memphis, TN; Ross and Hughlett UMC, Dyersburg, TN. Mrs. Pearlie, my Mother, was also my prayer partner as I served as U.S. Army Chaplain. Her current Pastor is Pastor Steven E. Maben, Friendship M. B. Church.
Out of this union, five children were born: Pearlie Maria Jones, Riviera Romera Jones, Esther Lee Jones, Wiley Eugene Jones, and Mary Dean Jones. Mrs. Pearlie Jones was an avid pet lover. She had a cat, 14 dogs, and fish. Mrs. Jones was very passionate about her employment at Memphis Linen Supply, Wells Fargo, and both parents were instrumental in starting the family singing group. All of her children were instrumental in caring for her; earlier, Esther and Wiley cared for Mother. During the last 6-7 years, we are grateful for Rev. Pearlie Wyatt’s passionate care for mother and she also allowed mother to reside with her, until she passed. Daughter, Riviera Hollowell, also joined with the care of their Mother until she passed away. On August 18, 2017, Mrs. Jones departed her life to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by both her father (Willie E. King), and her Mother, (Willa Dean King). Mrs. Pearlie M. Jones leaves to celebrate in her Homegoing, her only Brother, Kelly King, Retired, US Master Sergeant, Pearlie M. Wyatt, Riviera R. Hollowell (Rev. Dr. Michael, O. Hollowell, I.), Pastor Esther J. Gant, First Female, U.S. Army Chaplain, Georgia; Rev. Wiley E. Jones, Mary D. Berry (the late Rev. John L. Berry, III); Huber Heights, Ohio. She also leaves to morn her passing 12 Grandchildren: Damien Wyatt (Michelle), DeVondra Wyatt, LaCara Black (Tim), Ashia S. Wilkins (Marvin), and The Late Rev. Michael O. Hollowell, II. (Preceded her in in death), Jarvis E. Hollowell (Jessica), Monique Funzie (Mark), The late Dontrell Jones, (Preceded her in death), Charlotte, NC; Dorian Munday (Dustin), Florence, KY; and John Berry, IV., U.S. Airforce (Christian); Las Vegas, NV and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, in addition to loving friends. Graveside service in Memphis National Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home, Memphis, TN (Obituary published by Serenity Funeral Home)
