Elizabeth “Betsy” Cobb Goodman, age 95, a retired state social worker and widow of Joseph Goodman, died peacefully Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home, in Paris, Kentucky. She was born June 5, 1922, in Paris, the daughter of the late E.W. and Ann King Glass. Betsy was a graduate of Paris High School and Randolph-Macon College and a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Paris-Bourbon County Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Paris First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid U.K. basketball fan, bridge player, golfer and member of Stoner Creek Country Club.

Betsy is survived by: a daughter, Lee (Ray) Mercker, of Ponte Vedra, Florida; a son, Joseph (Mary) Goodman, of Fairfield, Connecticut; five grandchildren, Stuart (Leigh Ann) Scott, Julie (Dave) Foss, Margaret (Alex) Harris, Kati Goodman and Jeanne Goodman; nine great-grandchildren, Avery Foss, Addie Foss, Charlotte Foss, Sophie Harris, Connor Harris, Madelyn Harris, AnnaBeth Scott, Sam Scott and Ean Scott; and a son-in-law, Steve Scott. A daughter, Elizabeth “Bette” Scott, and a sister, Ann Anderson, preceded her in death. The family expresses special appreciation to Suzanne Hatter, Woody Clark, the staff of Bourbon Heights Nursing Home and her loyal friends.

A private family burial will take place on Tuesday, September 26. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception in Betsy’s honor on Tuesday, September 26, at the Barr House from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hopewell Museum or First Presbyterian Church on Pleasant Street in Paris.
