Her mother and grandmother were descended from many 17th century settlers of Colonial Fairfield and New Haven, Connecticut, as well as Pennsylvania, having come to Ohio in the early nineteenth century.
In 1929 he married Eugene Charles Futterknecht who owned Futter's Shoe Store in Mishawaka, IN for over fifty years.They had two daughters, Nancy Jane Futter Haney and Barbara Futter Thirion. She had eight grandchildren.
