Dr. Carlos D. Chase, 74, a dental surgeon in Rochester for 49 years, died of a heart attack at his home in that city. A native of Warsaw was graduated from Warsaw High School in 1903 and the University of Buffalo Dental School in 1906. He was an instructor there for a year and for the next 2 years was associated with a dentist in Newton, NJ. He established his practice in October 1909 and in 1913 married Josephine Ewell of Silver Creek. Was a Selective Service Board dental examiner in Rochester in both World Wars and was a member of the New York State Dental Ethics Council from 1946 to 1956. A member of the Rochester Dental Society, American Dental Assoc., 7th District Dental Society, Warren C. Hubbard Lodge of Masons, Rochester Consistory and the Brick Presbyterian Church. Survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Richard Smith of Rochester and Mrs. Kenneth McGowan of Spencerport; 2 sons, Donald E. of Penfield and Ernest D. of Canandaigua and several grandchildren; 2 sisters, Miss Iva M. Chase and Miss Lovina R. Case of Warsaw; 4 brothers, John A. Chase, Elwin G. Chase of Warsaw, Dr. George R. Chase of Batavia and L. Harold Chase of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.
