Obituary
Lanny Ross Slagle, 71, Johnson City, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home. A native of Washington County he is the son of the late Harry Thurman and Lily Ruth (Garland) Slagle. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles David Slagle. Lanny proudly served his country as an E5 Sergeant with the United States Army in the "Hell on Wheels" unit. He retired as supervisor from American Water Heater/A.O. Smith after 48 years of service. His favorite pastime was farming. Those left to cherish Lanny's memory include: his wife, Marty; daughter, Sherri Slagle and "granddog," Aariel; Special niece, Donna Hensley and nephew, Jerry Hodges; Two special little buddies, Zaden and Lincoln Mitchell; special friends, Thelma Greer, Aaron, Kim, Alex, and Lily Hale; and special pets, Oreo, Elsa, and Tom Tom. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN with Pastor Calvin Grimm officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:20 PM. Pallbearers will be Alex Hensley, Aaron Hale, Brandon Arnett, Alex Hale, Kris Hilton and Jack Mitchell.
