NORRIS, Leonard Alvin, 84, of Glen Allen, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at his home. He was born in Cumberland, Md. and raised in Orange, Va., where he graduated from Orange High School. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he worked as an estimator for F. Richard Wilton Jr., Inc. for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of North Run Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and choir member and was a part of a caring church family. He was active in his community as a football coach for Laurel Little League for 15 years. He was also the commissioner of the Laurel-Glen Men's Softball league for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Vida Norris; sister, Ruth Schmitchel (Freddy); and brother, Donald L. Norris. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley; daughter, Susan Skillin (Greg); and sons, Jim (Sarah), John (Stephanie); nine grandchildren, whom he adored; and his niece, Vickie Pace. He had supportive neighbors, the Osbornes; and many other Laurel Park friends, where he lived for 44 years. The family will receive friends at Bliley's, 8510 Staples Mill Road on Wednesday, September 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 21, at North Run Baptist Church at 1 p.m., with interment following the service at Westhampton Memorial Park
