Gary Jake Hodges was born on January 1, 1942 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the son of Calvin E Hodges (1916-2001) and Pearl E (McWhorter) Hodges (1917-2002).

He graduated from Montgomery County Central High School, the University of Tennessee Knoxville and the University of Tennessee Law School, then went on to practice law for over 40 years and had a passion for missions, traveled with a servant’s heart to such places as China, Guatemala and Brazil. Additionally, he was a member of First Baptist Church and served on various boards and committees as well as serving as a board member for Elisha’s Chamber Ministries.

He was married about 1961 to Portia Marie Potts (1943-2017), the daughter of Charlie T Potts and Mary ( -- ) Potts.

Gary was 75 years old when he passed away on September 22, 2017 at his home in Cumberland Furnace.

Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, he was survived by a married daughter; four grandchildren and four siblings.

Celebration of Life Services were held at First Baptist Church in Clarksville, and burial was in Potts Cemetery.
