JAMIE L. MOMPER KING, 47, died peacefully March 10, 2007, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born Aug. 9, 1959, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Charles and Jacqueline (Anderson) Momper. She was a graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School in 1977. She attended Simpson College, in Indianola, Iowa where she met Mark A. King, whom she married on Nov. 24, 1978. There she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Her previous residences include New Haven, Conn., Des Moines, Iowa. She lived in Fort Wayne for the greater part of her life. Her family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed watching her three daughters compete in basketball and volleyball at the grade school, high school and collegiate levels. She was a gourmet cook, loved the sun, being outdoors, gardening, and traveling. She served as a positive role model and mentor for countless high school girls in the area. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and kindness towards others. Her organizational and artistic talents were utilized throughout many different community schools, such as St. John the Baptist School, Bishop Luers High School and Canterbury School. She was a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was a member of Psi Iota Xi, St. John the Baptist's Youth Athlete Committee, Lake Tippecanoe Women's Association, Lake Tippecanoe Home Owner's Association and an active member of Breakfast at Tiffany 's, attending each Thursday morning's meeting. From 1989 to 1995, she coached a number of successful volleyball teams at St. John the Baptist School. She founded the BLHS Dance team in 2000. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Mark A. King; daughters, Rachel of Charleston, S.C., Michelle and Megan King; parents, Charles and Jacqueline (Anderson) Momper; two brothers, C. Andrew (Ann) Momper III of Carrollton, Va., Matthew (Lisa) J. Momper of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Michelle (Peter) R. Giauque of Marietta, Ga., Nancy (John) E. Reed of Fishers and Jacqueline (Eric) A. Downey of Fort Wayne; and 14 nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with Rosary service at 7:45 p.m. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials to St. John's Youth Athletic Committee.
