C. Marvalene Heyde, 92, of Zelienople, formerly of Butler passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at Passavant Retirement Center.

She was born May 22, 1925 in DeGraff, OH, the daughter of the late Clifford Nicholas and Mary Delilah (Hatcher) Cretcher.

Marvalene and Luther Heyde met at Capital University, Columbus, Ohio and were married in 1945. They served as missionaries in India from 1946 to 1951. Upon returning to the USA, they lived in Ohio, Michigan, and Butler, PA. While Rev. Heyde was pastor and director of music at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church from 1960 to 1996, Marvalene sang in the choir and was active in many roles in the congregation and community. She was an accomplished musician and sang soprano in the Grace Notes Trio, a popular performing group in Butler. Marvalene has resided at Passavant Retirement Community since 2004 and was a member of the Seaman Memorial Chapel.

Surviving are her daughter, Rev. Barbara L.(Stephen Mabee) Fullerton of Paris, Ontario; her son, Stephen Mark (Susan) Heyde of Waco, TX; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, James Cretcher of Missouri and Richard (Dorothy) Cretcher of Cincinnati, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Luther A.L. Heyde and her son, Philip P. Heyde.

Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 pm at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 West Jefferson St., Butler, PA on Sunday, September 24, 2017. A Celebration of Life service will take place at Seaman Memorial Chapel in Zelienople on Monday, September 25, 2017. A graveside service will be held at Gruenwald Cemetery, Bonniebrook Road, at 10 am on Monday, September 25, 2017. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Senior Life Benevolent Care Fund, 103 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063.
