Thomas Anthony “Tony” DeName, age 68, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Cadiz, KY, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY. Tony was a faithful servant of Buck Run Baptist Church in Frankfort, KY. He was a graduate of Murray State University and retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky where he served in many positions including Director of Unemployment Insurance and Manager of the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda Calhoun DeName; daughter and son-in-law, Bridger and Tyler Bright, Lexington, KY; two sisters, Vicki (Paul) Godwin of Cadiz, KY and Cindy Long of Eddyville, KY; nieces and nephews, Jacob (Dayla) Long, Shea (Bailey Oliver) Godwin, Clinton (Misty) Long; sisters-in-law, Virginia Stubblefield, Stella (Jimmy) Jones, and Margaret (Clarence) Thomas; brother-in-law Joel Atchison; several nieces and nephews-in-law, including Victoria Freeman and Morgan Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmine “John” and Frances Thomas DeName; a sister in infancy; sister-in-law, Bobbi (Calhoun) Atchison; and brothers-in-law, Ron Long and Warren Stubblefield.

Arrangements by Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where family received friends from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM CST on Saturday, September 23, 2017. The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Dr. Hershael York officiating, and music provided by Eddie Russell, Terry Shelton, Alan Baker, and Joyce Bozarth. Burial followed at East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
