Cheryl McCarty Rodgers, PhD., 64, of Memphis, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents William E. and Edna L. McCarty. Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Michael Bowers Rodgers, sister, Linda M. (Danny) Walker, brother, Mark W. McCarty, sisters-in-law, Susan Rodgers Jackson and Jennifer Rodgers Kennon, brother-in-law, Charles H. Rodgers, III., an niece Rachel Kennon Franchina and a nephew Jonathan Kennon.

Mrs. Rodgers graduated from Memphis State University in 1974. She went on to get her Masters from Brock University in Canada and her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Vienna in Austria. She went on to not only teach for several years at Booker T. Washington High School but also to write freelance and she was even published in a vintage auto collectors magazine on Elvis and his vehicles. Cheryl had an uncanny ability to communicate with animals.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, February 5th from 12-2pm with the funeral starting at 2pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd.
