"The death of David Mansheffer of Central Bridge, which occurred at the Albany hospital on the 22d day of November, leaves a sad vacancy in the hearts of his many friends and relatives. Deceased was 41 years of age. He is survived by five children, his father, four brothers and one sister. Several years ago his wife died leaving him to care for the children. He was a kind and loving father. Although we shall feel the loss of our beloved friend, may we console ourselves with the thought of his greater gain, with the thought that he has escaped further trial and tribulation on this earth, and is now among the redeemed of the Lord. Although we deeply regretted the separation, we rejoiced in his final triumph on earth. Should we not rejoice in this, his greater triumph? We remember his mild and pleasant disposition which gained him many warm friends, and our sympathy goes out to the children whom he so dearly loved, and by whom he is so bitterly mourned. When the empty chair and the vacant place at the table cause the heart to throb with anguish and the eyes to fill with tears, think of his happiness and let thoughts of a glorious reunion in the Father's house console you for this temporal loss. A Friend." [The Cobleskill Index (Cobleskill, NY), Dec. 11, 1913, Page 10]
