Alson was born 12 April 1802 in Greenfield, Saratoga, NY. On 30 Oct 1824, in Galway, Saratoga, NY he married Sarah A Glenn, daughter of Alan Glenn and Margaret Fife.

Alson and Sarah remained in Saratoga County for the birth of their first 3 children: Mary Ann, Crayton Nathaniel, and Miles Seymore.

About March 1833, the family removes to Hanover, Chautauqua, New York where Alson purchases property. Three additional children are born here: William James, Margaret Sophia and an unnamed infant daughter.

Around 1844, the family leaves New York state and settles in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan. It appears they become very close with the early settle Reed family - as 3 Adams children marry 3 Reed children.

Alson was a blacksmith by trade and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Grand Rapids.

In his will, written in 1854, Alson names his wife and his living children: Mary Ann Reed, Crayton, Miles and William Adams.

Alson dies in Grand Rapids on 13 February 1857.

NOTE: Many researchers have mistakenly attached "Alanson A Adams" as the father to this family unit. This is indeed a mistake in research. This Alanson was never in the areas where our family lived and was never in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
