Ruth Myrtle (nee Miller) McDivitt, 100, formerly of Maple Avenue, Lancaster, entered into rest on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Moravian Manor, Lititz, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert E. McDivitt.

Ruth was the daughter of Horace M. and Naomi S. (nee Kauffman) Miller. She was born in Lancaster where she resided her entire life. An active member of Saint John's Episcopal Church since birth, she became the oldest living member of the congregation. She was a member of the St. John's Drama Group, Altar Guild and the choir. Ruth enjoyed tennis, basketball, baseball, swimming, bike riding, hiking, gardening, and sewing. In her earlier life, she was a camp counselor at Camp Betty Washington (church camp) in York County. "Ruthie" graduated from Stevens High School and enrolled in business courses at J.P. McCaskey High School (nights). Prior to and during World War II, she was employed in the Train Dept. of the Hamilton Watch Company, where she also joined the company choir. Having married her husband before his overseas military service, Ruth became first and foremost a housewife and mother. Late in life she was employed at Andy's Catering where she enjoyed the social aspects of work.

Surviving are her three children; Robert E. McDivitt, Jr. married to Mary Straub, of Williamstown, NJ, Michael J. McDivitt married to Kay Moshier, of Lancaster and Patricia A. married to Allen L. Means, of Strasburg; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; H. Melvin Miller, Naomi Graeter, Audrey Plank and Fred Smith.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service to be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 321 West Chestnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Saturday morning, September 30, 2017 at 11:30 AM (Visitation 10:30-11:30 AM). Inurnment will be private. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial Remembrances can be made in her memory to St. John's Episcopal Church or the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
