CHARLOTTE MAY HARVEY, 82, of Sterling, Colorado passed away in her sleep on August 21, 2017, not long after viewing the solar eclipse.Charlotte White was born in Platner, Colorado to Genevieve Frances (Standley) and LeRoy Cecil White on January 5, 1935.Charlotte attended 1st to 4th grades at Meekton and at Crystal Heights in Washington County. Char, as she was known by family and friends, met Willis Harvey, while attending Otis High School in Otis. They were married on June 1, 1952, making their home in Otis. In 1956, following the births of their 3 daughters Shari, Vicki and Kristi, Char and Willis moved to Denver. Char obtained her cosmetology license in 1960. She worked at her own beauty shop until after her and Willis' son Chance(Chip)was born in 1969. Following Shari and Vicki's leaving home and Kristi's high school graduation in 1974, Char, Willis and Chip moved back to Otis. Char was a beautician, once again, in Akron and Otis for 21 more years. Char enjoyed sewing, quilting, crossword puzzles, Scrabble (She really loved to beat her sons-in-law at Scrabble), playing bridge and pinochle, watching the Rockies play on TV, (for a time, she was a season ticket holder at Coors Field) and travelling, but reading was her true passion. One thing she did very well was cooking and baking, although she would have probably denied it. Char took great pride in her home and family. She was able to fly to Germany, where Vicki and Jim were stationed in the army, after the birth of their son, Christopher, Char and Willis' first grandchild. Char, Willis and Chip travelled to Canada for a short time. She and her sister-in-law, Donna went on a cruise to Alaska, as well as, visiting Savannah, Georgia, Charleston, South Carolina, New York City, Nova Scotia and Vancouver, Canada. Following Willis' death in 2006, Char travelled with her friend Nadine Knudsen to England and Scotland and later they went to Germany for the Rhine river cruise. She moved to Sterling in 2009. She and Shari went on two more cruises, both times to the Caribbean, following her move. The second cruise included her son-in-law, Lyle, Char's granddaughter, Kelly and great-grandson, Bobby. In January of 2017, Char moved in with Shari and Lyle. Preceding her in death were her parents, her step-father, George Church; parents-in-law Ed and Zelma Harvey; her brother Larry White, her husband, Willis, her son-in-law, Robert Bollish and her brother, Fred Church. Those left to mourn her passing are her 4 children and their spouses; 2 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; 2 sisters ; 1 brother, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
