Ruth Walker Betts, 94, of Climax, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

The funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22 at Climax Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Poppell and Rev. Steve Brooks officiating. The family will gather for a private graveside service at Cedar Grove Cemetery with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sr. Adult Men’s and Women’s Sunday School Classes.

Ruth Beatrice Walker was born on July 18,1923 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Elbert and Ella Sweat Walker. She married love of her life, Ausmus Betts, in 1944 and they had three children. She attended Mt. Pleasant High School in Florida and was a faithful member of Climax Baptist Church. “Miss Ruth” was co-owner of B&B Grocery for many years. She was an original member of the Sew & Sew Quilters and you could find her each year at Swine Time sewing quilts with her friends. Ruth was a founding member of the Golden Agers and an active member of the Climax Community Club for decades.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Ausmus Betts; her son, Michael Betts and his wife, Hazel; her daughter-in-law, Delrose Betts; six grandchildren, Georgette Barron and her husband, Steve, Staci Simpson and her husband, Louis, Allison Cantley and her husband, Clay, Robin Allison and her husband, Casey, Eric Betts and his wife, Casey, Adrienne Harrison and her husband, Jarrett, and Amanda Betts; her 13 great-grandchildren; her three sisters-in-law; and a number of nephews and nieces.

"Miss Ruth" was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Ronnie W. Betts and William Ausmus Betts, Jr.; her brother, Russell Walker; and her sister, Ruby Rudd.

The Betts family acknowledges the kind and compassionate care of Hospice of Southwest Georgia.
