C. D. CURRAN DIES AT 62

C. D. Curran, 62, of Melrose, died suddenly about 9 p.m. Thursday at his home. He had retired at 8:30 p.m., and when his wife went in at 10 p.m. he was dead.

For the past 17 years he had owned the Russell Sales Co., which he operated with his sons, John Joe and Dan Jr. At one time he was associated with the late H. C. Peterson in the Albia Sales Co.

Curran was born Nov. 29, 1900, in Lucas county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Curran. He had spent all his life in the area of Melrose. He was married in 1928 to Rose Judge, who survives.

Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Marilou Fitzgerald, of Sheridan, Wyo.; Mrs. Dorothy Steinberg of Belmond; Mrs. Pauline Whittington, of Teaneck, N.J.; Mrs. Charlene Hannam, of Council Bluffs; and Rosella Curran, a student nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa; three sons, John Joe of Melrose; Dan Jr. and Judge, both at home; three brothers, John B. Curran and Maurice Curran, both of Russell; and Alfred Curran of Melrose; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Ward, of Moline, Ill.; and Mrs. Charlotte McCarty, of Melrose; and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at St. Patrick's Church in Melrose with the Rev. J. J. Morrissey in charge. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery in Melrose.
