She grew up in the Mt. Leon community of Longs and was a graduate of Loris High School and Presbyterian College. She was employed by Elon University. She formerly attended Mt. Leon Baptist Church in Longs, SC and was currently a member of Christian Life Assembly in Gibsonville, NC. She was a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and aunt.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 25 years, Professor Alan Russell of Burlington, NC; one daughter, Michelle Renee Russell of Burlington, NC; one brother, Chris Carter and his wife Lisa of Loris; two nieces, Kinsey Carter and Lauren Carter both of Loris; and her mother-in-law, Linda B. Russell of Burlington, NC.
