Marvin Lee Minteer was adopted and the son of Arthur Henry Minteer and Martha Aseneth (Graham) Minteer. He was born in Newport ,Tennessee and taken to his new home in Maryville, TN. When a couple days old. He was named for the Actor "Lee Marvin" which his mother "Martha Minteer" was a big fan of . The name however,was just in a reverse name order.

He was raised with an adopted sister Myra (Married name Chow) who was two years older. They were raised in Maryville, TN. on the family home on Wildwood Rd. in the "Mitchell Hollow" side of town. He was a member of the the Maryville Church of Christ for almost all his life.

The name Marvin preferred to be called was "Buddy". Truly, I think his friends would tell everyone he was there best buddy and friend. Marvin was very witty and a lively conversationalist. I cannot think of anyone that did not like him. he was extremely popular in high school and throughout his life.

He attended Everett High School in Maryville, TN. till the school was closed and was among the first Class year that graduated from Heritage High School Class of 1978. While in these two high schools Marvin was in the Marching band and the orchestra. Marvin played the trumpet. He also belonged to the BETA club. Marvin Lee Minteer graduated with a B.A. in 1981 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville TN. he also had a two year degree in Data processing with a minor in accounting from State Technical in Knoxville TN.

During his life Marvin worked various jobs, first as a Data Processor at a bank in Fort Lauderdale , FL. , then as a Bar Tender at a club in Knoxville , TN. and as a Fed Ex employee at the time of his marriage. At the time of his death he worked as a Data Processor at National Underground Storage in Boyers, Pennsylvania. Many of his coworkers and friend attended his funeral.

Marvin was married in Maryville, Tn. briefly once and did not have any children. He and his ex-wife remained friends. Marvin enjoyed going to the beach, reading, and music. He loved to spend times talking and traveling with his friends. Marvin was always well groomed and loved being well dressed for any particular occasion.

Marvin moved with his parents to Bulter , Pennsylvania in 1992. There he lived with his parents until his death. The home was on N. 6th Street in Butler, Butler Co. Pa. In 1998 he was diagnosed with Burkett's Lymphoma of the brain of which he died from about two years later. He had a wonderful Hospice volunteer that visit and truly helped to keep his spirits up. Marvin remained in contact also with many of his friends in Maryville and Knoxville TN. He truly was touched and enjoyed their letters and calls to him.

Marvin enjoyed going to the beach, reading, and music. He loved animals and at the time of his death enjoyed the solace and company of his dog "Bailey" and his cat" Buster". Marvin loved to spend times talking and traveling with his friends. Marvin enjoyed going to the beach, reading, and music. He loved to spend times talking and traveling with his friends . Marvin was always well groomed and loved being well dressed for any particular occasion. His homes were always exquisitely decorated and furnished.

Marvin was dearly loved by his five nieces and one nephew. They always looked forward to his visits. He lived and cared for his elderly parents most of his life. Still today, his sister hears from his many friends from various places that still reminisce over their friendship with him and good times they shared together. He is so greatly missed by his many friends and family . he is always in all our hearts and thoughts. Marvin has passed to his reward is pain free and probably looking down at us all smiling.

Marvin's ashes remain with his sister in Huntsville, AL. at this time.
