Clayton Wright, lovingly known as the “Cookie Grandpa” or “Spike” by friends, family and neighbors, peacefully left us to join his lifetime love on September 18, 2017. This outgoing and spunky soul emanated love and kindness in everything that he did. He spent his life with his high school sweetheart, Jeanne Wright (aka, the “Cookie Grandma”).

Born in Lindon, UT on May 24, 1932, Clayton met Jeanne after she moved to Pleasant Grove, UT with her family when she was 14. They married out of high school and raised four children in Utah County: Clayton Wright, Jr., Ronald Lee Wright, Jerry Max Wright and Debbie Wright Phillips. Clayton sold fruit and other sundries all over the west when the family was young then transitioned to a union worker in the steel industry and then into a security guard position at a lumber yard before retiring. Everything he did involved engaging with people and he looked forward to it every day.

The Cookie Grandma & Grandpa made cookies for all of the neighborhood children. At the high point of their final years together, upwards of 35 kids stopped by each day for their treat, most of whom gave hugs in return. They kept all of her Thank You notes on their pantry door. They knew the power of sharing and surrounded themselves with that love and kindness.

Clayton is survived by his, brother, Glade Wright, three children, 13 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild. He has been reunited with his love, their son and his partner, Jerry Max Wright and Carol Duran; grandson, Nicholas Phillips; and his siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home located at 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork.
