Ralph Bragg, a long time Colorado Springs resident, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2009. Ralph was born March 11, 1917 at Alton, West Virginia to Lanty Guy and Una Ethel (Clark) Bragg. The family moved to Garland, Utah where Ralph grew up with eight other siblings. Ralph entered the US Army on July 17, 1940. During WW II, he served in the European Theater of Operations from March 1944 to July 1945 participating in the second wave of the Normandy Invasion. He saw action in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He has also served overseas during the Korean War, in the Philippines from June 1951 to June 1954. He was stationed at several Air Force bases before being assigned to Ent Air Force Base from September 1959 until his retirement in 1963. After his retirement he continued working for the government. During his military service he received many awards and decorations including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Ralph Bragg is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Jeannette Appell; son, Michael; six grandchildren, Jennie (Cory) Glover, Mandi (Andy) Roehrich, Melissa Bragg, Jeffrey (Stacy) Appell, Zachary (Chelsea) Stevenson; seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Haley, Madison, Aiden, Morgan, Shelby and Ellie. Also surviving are sisters, Betty Cagle and Dorothy Watt and a brother Gene Bragg. He is preceded in death by his parents Lanty Guy and Una Ethel (Clark) Bragg; sisters, Marie Archibald, Peggy Sizemore and Lola Lea Wixom; brothers Lanty Guy Jr., Doyle Dodson Bragg and grandson Travis Bragg Sole. Ralph loved the outdoors. He spent his extra time on the run. Hunting and fishing with friends and loved ones were always on the top of his list. After retirement, he loved to travel every chance he could even if it was only to take the grandkids for ice cream. His love for the great outdoors always surrounded him with family and friends - the real love of his life, and he loved his big boat. Ralph was loved very much and will be missed by his family.
