Brenda was born to Cleo and Nancy Ford on April 4, 1955, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Including her twin sister Martha, Brenda had 10 brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Cleo, Jr., Derrel, Roscoe, Dexter, Sheryl, Becky, and Doug.
Because of the lack of special education in the public schools when she was a child, Brenda received her education at Paul’s Valley State School. On November 2, 1984, Brenda moved to Stillwater and became a very important part of Stillwater Group Homes. Her kindness and wit made her quite memorable to her housemates and to staff members. As news of her passing spread, it seemed everyone had stories to share about Brenda whether they worked with her 30 years ago or met her only recently.
Brenda was employed over the years at MPower, Inc., Braum’s, and the Carmike Theatre. She retired in March of 2017. At MPower, she was always a cheerful, reliable presence.
Survivors include sister, Martha Ford; brothers, Carla Ford and John Ford, and John’s wife Sheila. Brenda had numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her friends and staff at Stillwater Group Homes and MPower.
Brenda never intentionally hurt anybody. She left behind her nothing but love and laughter. Her life was rich and completely successful.
In keeping with her family’s wishes, there will be a celebration for Brenda’s friends, rather than a formal service, at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 14, at the First Presbyterian Church, 524 S. Duncan, Stillwater, OK.
