Karen Smith Rose

Karen Smith Rose passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday September 16, 2017, from complications of Parkinson’s. Karen was born September 28, 1943 in Tremonton, Utah to Alwin and Ada Smith. Karen married Charles F Rose, November 1968 in Layton, Utah. Charles later finished with the military and they moved to Ohio so they could be with his family for a while. Karen and Charles had a daughter; Charlette Rose (Bills). They resided in Ohio for 11 years where Charles was a dairy farmer. In February 1980, they moved to Florida to be around other family where Charles worked in Construction. In August 1980 they moved back to Utah to be with family where Charles got a job at Lagoon in Maintenance. He later retired from Hill Field, and they bought a home and resided in Layton.

Karen has worked in several places. She worked at Forest Service House cleaner Professional Ironer, and being a house wife which she really enjoyed! Karen loved to crochet and sew and would give Afghans to everyone. She had a big heart, and would talk to everyone, and made many friends. Karen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Karen leaves behind her loving spouse; Charles F Rose of Layton, one sister; Judy (Neil) Harris of Layton, one daughter; Charlette (Roger Kent) Bills of Layton, 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. Karen was preceded in death by her Parents, Sisters; Pearl (Bill) Hammack, Afton Richardson, Luella (Ben) Ferguson, and Brothers; Jay (Sue) Smith, Johnny Smith, and one Niece; Kim Smith.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W. Roy, UT. A viewing will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donate to University of Utah Medical Center
Interment will be in the Fillmore City Cemetery.
