Mark Joseph Morgan age, age 62, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, where he was hospitalized at the Siteman Center, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Mark was born on October 29, 1954 in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late Anthony Joseph Morgan and Kathleen Day (Brooks) Morgan.

Mark was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, Illinois.

Mark retired from the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne after serving for 20 years in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and in Vicenza Italy. He trained there for two years and also served on the Blue Falcons Sky Dive Team performing throughout Germany and Italy to the Public.

Mark earned a “Master Blaster” medal serving in three foreign wars: Saudi, Panama, and Gernada. Panama was a combat “jump” through live fire from the enemy.

Mark retired after 20 years from the military in 1994 then worked for the Bulk Mail Center in St. Louis as an electronic technician for 18 years until he had to retire because of the onset of multiple myloma. He battled multiple myloma and leukemia for 4 ½ years.

Mark’s hobbies included golfing, working with and fixing all types of electronics and working in his yard, as well as friends and families yards with his John Deere tractor. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan; Mark and Nancy enjoyed watching the games together all the time, right up to his final days in the hospital.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Polson.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy (Polson) Morgan, whom he married on December 13, 1988 in Edwardsville, IL; loving siblings, Karen Morgan of Cahokia, IL, Lance (Karen) Morgan of Golden Valley, CA, Christopher (Diane) Morgan of Simi Valley, CA and Kenneth (Tina) Morgan of Cahokia, IL; dear mother-in-law, Ruth Polson, of Glen Carbon, IL; mini Huskey, Micah; three cats, Lacey, Blue Smoke and Calilou; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, IL.

In celebration of his life, a funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, IL, with Father Jeff Goeckner officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO or in the form of Catholic masses and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
