Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Edna Mae Swanson, of Thousand Oaks, was called to join her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 11, 2016. She passed peacefully at her home, with her family near, at the age of 80.
She was born on August 12, 1935 in Iowa to Ray and Phyllis Marshall. The Marshall family moved to Ventura County in 1941 when she was six years old. She graduated from Oxnard High School in 1953.
She met her husband of 60 years at Ventura College, in a dance class in 1954, and they were married in 1955. Edna and Alan were square dancers for over 50 years and danced with many clubs in the county. They camped regularly with square dancing friends and took several trips across the United States in their RV. Edna had a talent for quilting, cross stitch, crocheting, and knitting. She loved to bird watch, tap dance, and watch the oldie but goodie TV shows and musicals.
Edna is survived by her husband, Alan; daughter, Sandra and her husband, Brett; son, Keith and his wife, Louise; daughter, Pamela and her husband, Shane. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Crane and her husband, Tom, who live in San Diego.
She was a devoted wife and mother who will be dearly missed. She was loving, sweet and compassionate. Her joy was her family and she was very proud of her children.
Services will be held on February 20, 2016, at 1:00 pm at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
