FREDERICK SCHAEFFER
Many Tamaqua residents were shocked by the death of Frederick Schaeffer, aged 51 years, of 217 Cedar Street, who died at his home at 7:40 a.m., Saturday. He had been ailing for the past eight weeks and had spent seven of those weeks as a patient in the Palmerton hospital.
He rose early Saturday morning and while walking about the houses he suffered a heart attack.
A native, of West Penn, he moved to Tamaqua in 1922 and was employed by the water commission of Tamaqua. He was a member of the Zion's Stone church of Snyders.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda, and ten children: Albert, Clara, Mabel, George, Martha, Pearl and Verdamae, at home; Lewis Mantz (step-son), of New Ringgold; Mrs. William Graff (Verna), of New Ringgold; Mrs. Edwin Hill (Emma), Tamaqua.
Four sisters and a brother also survive: Mrs. Elmer Womer, Snyders; Mrs. Carrie Smith, Walnutport; Mrs. Harry Zehner, Snyders; Mrs. Robert Kramer, Rowe street, and Earl Schaeffer, Snyders.
Funeral services at his late home, 217 Cedar street, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Gebert, pastor of the Zion's Evangelical church, officiating. Interment in Zion's Stone church cemetery, Snyders.
