Rodney Michael Crow, D.D.S., 72, retired chief of identification services for the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007.
Funeral was 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.

Dr. Crow was born Oct. 18, 1934 in Fort Worth, the only son of the late Coy Eugene and Marguerite "Deets" H. Crow. He lived in Riverside and River Oaks before attending Baylor College of Dentistry, where he earned his doctor of dental surgery degree in 1959.

Dr. Crow worked in private practice until turning his full attention to forensics. Dr. Crow became the first forensic dentist in the state to work solely for a medical examiner's office. He was one of only three full-time forensic odontologists in the country in the late 1980s. A fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Odontology, he spear-headed the Fort Worth mass disaster team with help from the Fort Worth Dental Society.

For over 2 decades, Dr. Crow used his expertise to help identify bodies through dental comparison. By the time Dr. Crow retired from the Tarrant County medical examiner's office in 2004, he had identified hundreds of bodies, including that of cult leader David Koresh.

Dr. Crow served as a councilman for the city of Lakeside and served three terms as mayor. He totally invested himself in projects and will be remembered as a Renaissance man who loved animals, traveling and reading.

Survivors: Sally Coers; his daughter, Tiffany Amber Gray and her fiance, Casey Thornton; and many friends.
