Yvonne Rae McConnell (Kingsley), 88, died shortly after midnight Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Essential Health Care, Fargo, ND.

Yvonne was born July 29, 1929 to Fred and Dorothy (Cowen) Kingsley. She was the second of nine children. She was raised on a farm in Wheatland Township in ND. She attended grade school in a one room school house close to the farm She attended high school at Central Cass in Casselton, ND. Yvonne married William McConnell February 4, 1950 and moved to the McConnell farmstead where they spent their married life and raised their family.

Yvonne was an active member of her community and her church, Arthur United Methodist. She volunteered at the Red River Valley Fair bringing her vast knowledge of gardening and needlework. She was a flower show judge as well as a Master Gardener, she helped beautify not only her home but helped beautify the Red River Valley Fair Grounds, Bonanzaville and the Arthur Good Samaritan Center, and many other places too numerous to mention here.

Yvonne enjoyed her family the most. She was always excited to introduce her family to others when they came to visit and especially relished in telling others how many generations were in her family. Yvonne enjoyed teaching her grandchildren crafting and other skills like gardening, bun making, crocheting, canning and many others. She was eternally patient when she passed on these lessons.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dorothy Kingsley, her husband, William, several brothers and sisters and two grandchildren

She is survived by her brothers, Claire Kingsley, Ronald (Faye) Kingsley; her children, James (Patty), John, Edward (Janet), Daniel (Val), and Mary; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5 until 7 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND with a prayer service at 7 PM.

Funeral: Friday, September 22, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Arthur United Methodist Church, Arthur, ND

Burial: Friday, September 22, 2017 at Casselton City Cemetery, Casselton, ND
