Decatur – Stephen Boyer "Steve" Richardson, 82, of Sullivan, formerly of Decatur, passed away, Sunday, September 17, 2017.
Steve was born March 5, 1935, in Shelbyville, the son of George L. and Thelma (Boyer) Richardson. A faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Steve worked for Tommy House Tire before retiring. During his retirement he worked as a funeral assistant at Graceland/Fairlawn and Moran & Goebel Funeral Homes.
He married Deanne Miller and she preceded him in death. He then married H. Shirlene Scherer November 12, 1980, and she preceded him in death December 6, 2015.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, son Steve Scherer and son in law Gary Irwin.
Survivors include his children: Daniel Richardson; Mark (Sandee) Scherer, Brad (Cathy) Scherer, Paul Scherer, Susan Irwin and Amy (Philip) Tapscott; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren other relatives and friends.
Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be at 10 am, Thursday, September 17, 2017, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin, main celebrant; visitation will be one hour prior to the mass in the church. Burial will take place in Boiling Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for distribution to several churches and organizations designated by Steve.
