Thomas was born in Covina, California on September 2, 1923 to Thomas B. Hurley, Sr. and Ada Ayers Hurley.
Thomas was a veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Navy. Thomas was only 16 when WWII started and only 18 when the U.S. entered the war. Thomas was married to Thelma Horner for 65 years.
They raised four children in Southern California before moving to Independence, CA in 1973. Thomas chose Independence in part because of his love for hunting and fishing. He worked locally as a brick mason and truck driver. Several examples of his masonry skills are still part of Independence today. The pond here in the Independence Cemetery was built by Thomas Hurley.
Thomas is survived by his children, Tom, Alan and Denise, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Independence Cemetery, Independence, CA.
