Obituary of Leonard Hoy Graves

Leonard Hoy Graves passed from this life to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the age of 90 in West Monroe, LA surrounded by his family and a host of friends from the Ridgecrest Community Care Center staff. He was born on July 9, 1927 in Norphlet, Arkansas, but lived most of his life in Bastrop, La. He was a heavy equipment operator on numerous pipelines throughout his career, and an avid fisherman and gardener during his retirement years–always trying to perfect his annual crop of tomatoes.

Mr. Graves was preceded in death by his parents–Henry Grady Graves and Minnie Lee Murray Graves, as well as one brother James Harold Graves and three sisters–Myrtle Blanche Nolan, Hattie Mae Blythe and Virgie Lee Holland. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years Arnetha Hillman Graves, one son Steve Graves and wife Beverly, as well as one daughter Judy Montgomery and husband William, four grandsons (Steve and wife Karen, Neil and wife Holly, Chris and wife Om, Michael and wife Andrea) and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Golden Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday evening, with a celebration of his life at the United Pentecostal Church in Bastrop on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dwight Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
