Mike Queen, age 65, of Altapass Highway in Spruce Pine died Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his home.

Born on January 29, 1952 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late William M. and Betty Jean Hickey Queen. Mike was a member and deacon of the Victory Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

Mike was the owner of Superior Construction and Repair in Spruce Pine, where he was proud to be a lifelong resident. He will be remembered as a hardworking man that cared deeply about his community and heritage. He enjoyed helping others, which he demonstrated in the sacrifices he made and the love he held for his family, friends and God. He kept a special place in his heart for the simple things; swapping stories with the daily morning coffee crew, listening to bluegrass junction, a good set of tools, and smoking barbecue for family and friends every chance he could.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Mike Queen on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brown officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Collis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to; Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

The family would also like to say ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care; as well as several other friends in the community, for their care and concern for Mike.
