Mary Ann 'Annie' (Lutz) Settell, died Feb. 1, 2015. Annie was born Feb. 7, 1934 in Lincoln to Andrei Andreiovich 'Andrew' and Mary Katharine (Riffel) Lutz, Germans from Russia who emigrated to the United States in 1912 (South Bottoms). Her mother was from Eckheim and her father from Langenfeldt. There was never a day in Annie's life that she didn't remember her family left in Russia and how they were murdered by the Bolsheviks. Annie loved to share stories of family and the difficulties that the Germans from Russia faced.

If you were lucky enough to meet Annie, you would have wanted to be her friend. Her wit was quick and her smile contagious. Annie married her lifelong sweetheart, Bob, in September 1952; their union lasted until his death in October, 2013, 61 years.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Karen (Firth), Bud and Koren; daughters and sons-in-law: Carol and Roger Chappelle, Kathryn and Howard Baker (Phoenix); the most adorable 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; Jim and the girls; two sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and dear friends. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 12 older siblings: Pauline, Mollie, Reinie, Emma, John, Heinie, Leroy, George, Betty, Sally, Dorothy, and Richard 'Dick.'

Special thanks to Asera Hospice and HomeInstead Senior Care.

Annie requested no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, she suggested memorials to the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia or the Capital Humane Society.
