EAST LIVERPOOL — Ellen S. Burns, a warm and tender soul, was welcomed to her eternal home, with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017. She passed at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.
93 years old, Ellen was born in East Liverpool on Feb. 28, 1924, to the late George and Laura Evans McGraw.
She spent her life in this area. Most of her years were spent as a loving homemaker, but earlier she worked at the former Harker China in Chester. Ellen was a devoted member of the Chester First Church of the Nazarene where she was active in many facets of the church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Bud" Burns; her son, Kenneth Burns Jr.; her siblings, Bill McGraw, Delores Lilly, Wilma Wells, Veretta Riffett, Florence Allison, and Elizabeth Welsh; and her son-in-law, Ray Swearingen.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Saundra Swearingen of Chester; her sister, Barbara Smith of Lisbon; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Cornell of Chester; her very special grandchildren, John (Johnna) Bickerstaff, Melisa (Eric) Kell, Brandy (Chris) Waide, Tiffany (Brian) Hissam and Amanda Swearingen; her great grandchildren Dylan & Casey, Sydney & Steven, Ashleigh & Jarrod, Nathan & Alexis, Bailey & Tracer, Jaedyn, Jered, and Colt; two great great grandchildren, Riley and Vinny; and one soon to arrive great great grandchild Bebout.
