David Paul Schrempf, 53, of Amesbury, died August 20, 2017, at High Pointe House in Haverhill. In 1977, David was in a tragic Newburyport house fire that left him in a comatose state that he miraculously survived all of these years. The majority of his 40-year journey was spent in his family home surrounded by loved ones and cared for by his loving father and step-mother, along with numerous devoted medical professionals.
Born in Newburyport, March 24, 1964, he was the son of Paula Noyes and the late Albert Arthur Schrempf, Jr. and his wife, Esther Schrempf.
David attended Newburyport Middle School where he was an A student. He was an active, independent, and fun-loving young man. David loved all sports, especially baseball. David also enjoyed dirt biking and watching performances of the Yankee bells with his siblings.
He is survived by his sisters, Robin McMahon of Newbury and Beth Schrempf of Salisbury; his step-sister, Sharon Kezer Gauvin of Salisbury; his step-brother, Albert L. Kezer, III of Newburyport; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and pets.
He was predeceased by his brother, Alan Schrempf, who passed during the tragic fire. He was also predeceased by his step-sisters, Karen Dow and Mary Kezer Breidenbach.
Funeral services will be private per request of the family. Donations in his memory can be made to any program for children with head injuries. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury.
