He was born in San Geronimo, N.M. on Dec. 27, 1919 to the late Antonio Jose Abeyta and Catarina Santillanes Abeyta.
He was united in marriage to Albina Trujillo on April 14, 1941 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas.
He worked as a Carpenter at Las Vegas City Schools. He like hunting, fishing, loved to dance the polka, and loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Antonio Jose and Catarina Abeyta; half-brother: Luis Abeyta.
He is survived by his wife Albina Abeyta of the family home in Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters: Georgiana Romero and husband Marvin of Placitas, N.M. and Marcella Coca and husband Joe of Las Vegas, N.M.; son: Sam E. Abeyta and wife Angie of Las Vegas, N.M.; brothers: Manuel Abeyta and wife Frances of Albuquerque; sisters: Annie Abeyta of Las Vegas, N.M., Cecilia McKee and husband Howard of Las Vegas, Nev., and Adelina Lynn of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and l great-great-grandchild.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted this evening at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Pedro Coca, Angelo Abeyta, Marvin Romero, Adam Abeyta, Danny Coca, Adrian Abeyta, Diego Romero, Aaron Abeyta and Raymond Johnson. Serving as honorary bearer will be Estevan Coca.
