MARION, Va. Shannon Dewayne Woods, age 40, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017. Shannon was born in Smyth County, Va. and was preceded in death by his father, Roger Franklin Woods; his grandparents, Rush and Bessie Prater and Frank and Winnie Woods. He was a loving son and brother who loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his mother, Peggy Prater Woods; his sister, Tina Prater; his brothers, Bobby Prater and wife, Shannon and Frank Woods and wife, Carleen; several nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Ray Brown; and a special friend, Ernie Brown. Private Funeral services will be held Monday, September 18, 2017, with Pastor Shawn Womack officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery.
