He was born May 7, 1919, in Waverly, OH, to the late Floyd A. and Stella McCabe Cox. On March 7, 1943, he married the former Ernestine Saul, with whom he had been married for 36 years, who died May 15, 1979. On June 11, 1994, he married the former Genevieve Cottrill Goad, who is now residing with her daughter, Becky.
In addition to his wife, Genevieve, also surviving are a daughter, Cathy (Larry) Dumbauld; a stepdaughter, Becky Goad; a stepson, Brad Goad; grandsons, David Dumbauld and Matthew Dumbauld; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, David Ramsey.
He was predeceased by sisters, Ruby Parker, Louise Ramsey, Eileen Riley, and Mildred Harris; and a brother, Carl Cox.
Dwight was a Tech Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II with four years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Community Christian Church. He was a member of B.P.O.E. #52, U.C.T., Ross County Conservation League, and was a former Scioto Twp. Trustee for 28 years and had served as president for many of those years. He had been honored by the Ohio State Legislature for his long and outstanding service. He was a manager at the former Stewart's Men's Wear for 30 years.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
Friends may call at Wares from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
