He was born on April 22, 1929, in Rockingham County, Virginia, son of the late Clarence Meadows and Mamie Jenkins Meadows.
Dennis loved music and was an accomplished steel guitar musician. He was a member of the Kountry Kousins, Virginia Gentlemen, and several other bands. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his second wife Carolyn Evelyn Settle Strawderman and his brother Richard “Jim” Meadows.
He is survived by his three sons Dennis Meadows, Jr. and wife Debra Meadows of VA Beach, Gregory Meadows of Harrisonburg, and Jeffrey Meadows and wife Ellen Meadows of New Market; five sisters Darlene Buracker, Bonnie Comer, Sylvia Propes, and Shirley Gray of Stanley, and Brenda Grimsley of Shenandoah; three grandchildren Wayne Meadows, Lauren Meadows, and Kristin Ardent; several nieces and nephews, and his first wife Ruby Arlene Bowers Meadows of Stanley.
The family will receive friends at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, VA on Friday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Robert Reynolds.
