Robert H. ALBERS, formerly of Chesaning, passed away September 14, 2017, age 82, at the Saginaw Geriatrics Home. His Funeral Mass was celebrated St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, Chesaning. Rev. Fr. William GRUDEN officiated. Burial followed at Wildwood Cemetery, Chesaning. Robert was born in St. Charles, Michigan on November 10, 1934, the son of Henry W. and Mary Barbara (ZUZULA) ALBERS. Robert was a US Army Veteran. He served from 1953 to 1956 in Europe during the time of the Korean War. He married Pauline P. MILLS on July 18, 1959. They were married over 40 years before she preceded him in death on December 21, 1999. Robert was a retired GM production worker. He had worked 30½ years at the Fisher Body Plant on Coldwater Road, Flint. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 326, Chesaning Knights of Columbus Council 2943, the Chesaning American Legion Post 212, and the Owosso Eagles. He enjoyed playing baseball, especially on the American Legion league, and football. Robert had played baseball and softball since he was nine years old and was very athletic well into his 70's. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, four stepchildren, a stepdaughter-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one sister, nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Pauline; a stepson, Ronald GIBSON; and his brother, Jim ALBERS.
