George Martz
MATTOON — George "Toddy" Martz, 85, of Mattoon died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 9, 1996) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, in Mattoon, with Rev. Mark Lefler officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with military rites by VFW Post No. 4325. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Shelby County, the son of William Calvin and Gertrude Delong Martz. He married Marie Reedy in 1933; she survives.
Other survivors include on brother, William Martz, Jr. of Mattoon; and one sister, Mary Louise Lockhart of Mattoon.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Martz was a retired employee of Brown Shoe Company. He was a member of the Mattoon Methodist Church and Lawrence Riddle American Legion Post No. 88.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
