Mrs. Gussie May Christian, who had been a resident of Ashland for 40 years, passed away Sunday morning after an illness of long duration. She was born May 1, 1888 at Cameron, I.T. Survivors include her husband, Tom Christian, a daughter, Miss Nadine Christian, a sister, Mrs. Thelma Myers, and six brothers, Ed Battles, Bill Battles, Jack Battles, Sam O. Battles, Hailey Battles and Clint Battles. The later two are in the U. S. army. She also leaves a step-mother, Mrs. Ella Battles, of McAlester. Funeral services are to be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the M. E. Church in Ashland with Rev. Leonard Carter, officiating. Burial under the direction of Humphrey's will be in the Ashland cemetery.
