Robert Lee Hesler, 82, of Monticello, formerly of Tolono, passed away at 5:10 a.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Arbor Rose, Monticello.
Robert was born May 5, 1935 in Calhoun, IL the son of John O. and Daisy June (Heap) Hesler. He married Rowena Lee Renollet on January 25, 1957 in Noble, IL.
Robert is survived by his wife, Rowena Hesler of Monticello; son, Randy Hesler (Sherri) of Louisville, KY; daughter, Renee Catlin (Gregg) of Monticello; grandchildren, Shannon Morgan, Josh Mohr, Brittany Pape, Trevor Mohr, Neal Hesler, Kelly Hesler; great-grandchildren, Landon Mohr, Logan Mohr, Jaxon Mohr, Emily Pape, Brooklyn Mohr; and a brother, Richard Hesler of Claremont, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert was a retired Junior High School Guidance Counselor. He was a member of the Open Hearts Foursquare Church of Monticello, the Carpenters Local #44, and the Epsilon Pi Tau Honorary Fraternity for Industrial Arts. Robert graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BS and the University of Illinois with a Master’s in Education along with an Advanced Certificate. Robert was an Urbana Adult Education Instructor and Urbana Junior High School Guidance Counselor.
He enjoyed camping, gardening, spending time with his family and enjoyed the time spent with his caregivers.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. A private family funeral service and interment will be held in Bailey Cemetery, Tolono. Memorial donations may be made to the Open Hearts Foursquare Church, Monticello.
